Friday, May 21st

Taste lots of different popcorn at Rural Route 1 Popcorn.

 

Come and join your friends as we depart Central Wisconsin heading for the great state of Iowa! As always, on our way we can find some veryinteresting places to visit! Our included lunch today will be at Cracker Barrel in Madison before arriving in the little town of Montfort. The Town of Montfort is located in the rolling hills of southwest Wisconsin and what shall we find but Rural Route 1 Popcorn! They will have the popcorn ready, so get ready for some taste testing! What an interesting and delicious visit we will have as we find out just how many different kinds of popcorn can be made – andof course there will be many choices to make in their Popcorn Gift Shop.  

Onward we travel crossing the Mighty Mississippi River into Dubuque, IA.  

For the next two nights we will be staying atthe Best Western Midway Hotel in Dubuque and will have an included dinner at our hotelwith the evening free to enjoy their Pool Atrium area.  

Saturday, May 22nd
Image of Amana Colonie BasketsOur busy day begins with an included Breakfast Buffet at our hotel prior to heading to the Amana Colonies! Upon our arrival in Amana we will stop at the Visitor Center and view a movie giving us informationon how the Amana Colonies was formed and how it is today! Then out we go to see the many sights with visits to the Village Hearth Bakery (an 1850 Bakery where bakery items are still baked today), the  Broom & Basket Craft Shop (see a demonstration on how brooms and baskets are made) and AJ’s Copper Shop (we will see Copper Critters, Birds and Animals). By then it will be time for an  included lunch at a local restaurant before continuing on with our tour.  

This afternoon we will visit the Village Potters Studio (we will see the Potter at work), the Village Tinsmith (to see everything from kitchen utensils to Old Street Lanterns being made). Photo of pottery on wheel.After all of that fun we will have some free time downtown to check out their many unique shops before enjoying an included Family Style dinner at another local restaurant. Following our dinner we will say goodbye to this interesting community and travel back to Dubuque for our overnight stay.

Our final day of our tour begins with an included Breakfast Buffet at our hotel and then back on the road we go, traveling through the rolling hills of southwest Wisconsin making a stop at the House on the Rock in Spring Green. Our included  lunch will be in the city of Dodgeville prior to arriving for our visit in Spring Green. The House onthe Rock has something for everyone to enjoy and especially the huge carousel of hundreds of beautiful horses. As we begin our final trek home we will stop for our included dinner at KFC in Plover before arriving back in Central Wisconsin after seeing many interesting things.
