Stars and Stripes – Feb 25 – March 1

Cancelled!

Due to lack of interest in this tour, we regret to inform you that it has been cancelled.

Saturday, February 25th

Washington D.C. here we come! We depart Central Wisconsin to begin our trek east to our Nation’s Capitol. Our travels will take us through Madison where we will make a stop at our State’s Capitol just to give everyone an idea on what the differences are between this capitol building and our Nation’s Capitol. Our trip will then take us through northern Illinois and into Indiana before we make our overnight stop at the Farmstead Innin Shipshewana. Our day will include a lunch and dinner stop enroute along with fun & games while on the motorcoach.

Sunday, February 26th

Following our included breakfast we will be heading into Ohio today with an included lunch stop in Canton before stopping to check out the Pro-Football Hall of Fame. What an interesting place – even for those who really don’t enjoy football it is quite an amazing place! This afternoon we will cross into West Virginia and arrive at the Hampton Inn in Wheeling for our overnight stop. Our included dinner this evening will be at Bob Evans right across the parking lot from our hotel! An extra treat at our hotel will be their all new Indoor-Outdoor Aquatic Center that is scheduled to open in November. We will have time to enjoy it both this evening and tomorrow morning!

Monday, February 27th

Breakfast is included this morning along with some time to enjoy the Aquatic Center one more time. Then on we go into the state of Pennsylvania and then Maryland before arriving at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum in Virginia. Our included lunch will be en-route while in Pennsylvania so we can say we made a stop in every state along the way!  Are you interested in the Space Shuttles that have orbited the earth since 1962 or maybe the many different kinds of airplanes or the planets themselves?  There is something for everyone to see and enjoy in this outstanding museum. We will also include either the IMAX Theatre or the Planetarium.  Which one, will be determined by what shows are playing at the time of our visit. We are now on our way to the Country Inn & Suites in Camp Springs, Maryland to check in for our three night stay. Dinner will be included this evening near our hotel.

Tuesday, February 28th

Rise and shine to a day of touring in Washington D.C.! Our breakfast is included at our hotel prior to heading into the big city! Today we will be joined by a Licensed Step-on Guide who will share a wealth of information with us as we visit the following places. The National Cathedral, the Washington Monument, a White House tour and a visit to the Nation’s Capitol! We will visit some of the other monuments as time allows. Something to keep in mind regarding our visit to Washington D.C. is that some attractions on our schedule will be determined by what requests are approved and for what times.  For many of the attractions like this in Washington D.C. you must request prior approval to bring a group and in some cases they do not take requests until January 1st. However because of the time of year that we will be visiting I am pretty confident that our requests will be granted.  Both our included lunch and dinner will be in Washington D.C. and as to where, will also be determined by the schedule.

Wednesday, February 29th

Our history lesson continues following our included breakfast! Remember George Washington? This morning we will visit Mount Vernon which is the Estate & Garden of George Washington! Our tour will be led by a lively character dressed as if he or she was living in the 18th Century at Mount Vernon. As our tour concludes, time will be allowed to visit The Shops at Mount Vernon along with The Lady Washington Shop. Our included lunch today will be here at Mount Vernon as well.

This afternoon our travels will take us to the Arlington National Cemetery – with over 300,000 people buried here it is a very memorable stop on our tour. A ride on the tram-mobile will take us to the various parts of the cemetery and will also make a stop at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier – this tomb is guarded by the U.S. Army 24-hours per day and 365 days a year. This cemetery honors the many service man and women who have lost their lives while serving our country.

Our final visit today will be to the National Museum of Natural History!  Now this isn’t a typical history museum like most people would expect – how about seeing life size dinosaurs, life size elephants and then something as dainty as the Butterfly Pavilion and everything in between! After a full day of touring we will enjoy our included dinner near our hotel this evening.

Thursday, March 1st

Our final day of this tour will begin with our included breakfast at the hotel and then either the National Zoo or the MadameTussauds Washington D.C. Wax Museum. This all depends on how the schedule goes on our other two days in Washington D.C. – we may make adjustments each day depending on traffic, weather, tour schedules, etc. so it is a tour that we will all just go with the flow!

Our motorcoach driver will drop us off at the Dulles International Airport to begin our quick trip back home! Our flight returns us to Central Wisconsin early this evening with memories that will last a life time!
