2007 Van Hool T 2140
Mileage: 798,500 miles (actual mileage)
Engine: Detroit Series 60 with engine retarder
Transmission: Allison Automatic B500
Capacity: 49 passengers plus hostess seat
Vehicle History:
We purchased this coach in May of 2012. It was originally operated by a west coast company that had terminals in both Los Angelas and Las Vegas. It spent time in both locations. When we purchased the coach, it had 330,000 miles on it.
Current Status:
We have made extensive upgrades to this coach. It is likely the cleanest and best maintained T 2140 in the USA. Our company enjoys one of the best safety records in the industry – for a company our size. With that said, this coach has never been involved in any sort of major accident. We have documentation for every repair made on this coach during our ownership. All the exterior lighting has been converted to LED lighting. The exterior of the coach has no dents, dings or severe scratches. The Alcoa Dura Bright aluminum rims have just been replaced with refurbished rims (less than 5000 miles ago.) The tires are in good shape. The front axle has 15/32 wear, the drive axle has 26/32 wear (recaps), and the tag axle has 11/32 wear. The brakes are all 75% or better. After purchasing the coach in 2012, all the seat covers were replaced. Because the coach has always been garaged when it is not traveling, the seat covers are in very nice condition - no rips, no tears, no stains and no extensive fading. Tray tables and magazine retainers are located on every passenger seat. The stairwell, aisle and landing area around the driver and hostess seat are all carpeted. As a result, the vinyl flooring in all those areas is in excellent condition and not heavily worn. To maintain the condition of the carpet and vinyl flooring, a central vacuum system was installed when we purchased the coach. The interior lighting has all been converted to LED lights. In addition to the driver’s mic, there are two tour director mics and a cordless mic as well. (This coach did a great deal of tour work, thus the extensive mic system.) The REI entertainment system includes oversized monitors, DVD player in the dash and REI System 5000 control head. The system also includes Sirius XM satellite radio. Outlets have been installed. The Vanner inverter that powers the outlets also has the optional battery charger. Therefore, the coach has the ability to be plugged in to charge the batteries. (It should be noted that as part of our routine service, batteries are changed annually.) The coach also has an air hose connector so an airline can be connected. The engine has no oil leaks – it does not use any oil. Because of the required use of the Webasto engine heaters, our engines perform better and last longer (no cold start-ups through the use of the engine heater.) Our drivers are trained to use the engine heater year around instead of idling the engine. As a result, our engines have dramatically LESS total engine hours on them verses other companies. Thus our engines last longer and have less repairs. As previously stated, we are fanatical about upkeep. Any repairs needed are completed. The engine compartment is clean – we pressure wash the engine compartment and undercarriage at least once per year and typically more often than that. Our maintenance schedules are extensive – even the driveshaft gets rebuilt on a schedule. We make many updates to the dash and controls of every coach we own. This coach has additional lighting switches to control the “night lights” in the ceiling – they can be turned off or on independent of the other night lights in the coach above the passenger seats. Every switch on the dash works properly – none of the switches have faded or worn icons and none of the switches have lights inside the switch that are inoperable.
Here’s the bottom line: this coach can be purchased and immediately be put into service. That’s because it has been in service and has received the proper attention. Unlike so many used coaches that are advertised on Ebay or through other channels, this coach is truly in excellent condition for the age and miles. The price reflects the upkeep. Most certainly there are other coaches out there that are this year model – probably for half the price. If purchased, twice the amount of money will be spent to bring those coaches to the condition of this coach. Please contact us if you are serious.
